Article Abstract:
The grating light valve (GLV) is likely to replace the cathode ray tube (CRT) TV set gradually, it relies on micro mechanical systems technology to control and direct light from semiconductors laser to form a TV picture on the wall or the screen. GLV's are illuminated with infrared light to print an image onto a resist-coated aluminum plate of both picture and text coming directly from a computer publishing system.

The Advanced Access Content System (ACCS) is planning to develop a specification for copy protection of next generation DVDs. However, it is reported that the ACCS project may fail as the entertainment and electronics industries and individual consumers have competing interests as it won't deter commercial copyright infringes.
