Human resource management issues in global R & D organisations: a case study
Article Abstract:
International business organizations are faced with the managerial problem of integrating R&D systems in both foreign and local operations. Several points must be considered in addressing this difficulty. Firstly, a balance must be struck between the level of control and autonomy in activities of the R&D unit that would optimize initiative. Secondly, HRM must be designed around the R&D structure since it is a crucial catalyst in its coordination. Lastly, HRM may be viewed as a consolidating force in both the integration-based and specialization-based structures in global R&D.
