Hypersonic flight: the future of passenger flight promises ultrafast trips to any point on the globe

A few engineers worldwide are working on the propulsion technologies that would empower passenger planes, several times to the speed of sound. This could reduce, three hour long trip to a mere half an hour, express packages could be delivered globally in hours rather than days, and a living organ could reach a patient waiting for a transplant in minutes rather than hours.

A group of inquisitive scientists and glaciologists from the University of Southampton, England, inserted capsules with sensors that can report even the subtlest environmental alterations, into the Briksdalsbreen, a glacier in southwestern Norway. This ambitious project by glaciologists is reported.
