Microfuluidics ramp up chemical production: Micro-etched hydraulic components are being prepared for large scale chemical production and can now be injection moulded
Article Abstract:
Manufacturing techniques for microfluidic components have been refined so that certain components can be injection moulded using similar techniques to those for compact disk production. One application could be for processing hazardous chemicals. Micro scale chemical processing components are being developed using a rectangular silicon channel to carry organic fluids and a glass semicircular channel to carry water-based fluid.
