The Panasonic Industry Exhibition is held every two years in Japan to exhibit the latest products and ideas. Sections include digital TV, display devices, mobile communications, semiconductors, optical disk, automotive electronics and electronic components and materials. Matsuhita's motor company is exhibiting a servo drive controller based on a real time voltage chopping, and another larger motor, with high power densities, uses a split core built from several sections.

Bearing up to extreme conditions
Article Abstract:
The development of bearings capable of working at -162 degrees centigrade and 3,600 rpm is discussed. Bearings manufactured from martensitic stainless and austenitic steel for use in submerged pumps and nuclear reactors are described.

Research into the development of a novel 4-stroke engine used to power model aircraft is described. The new design by RCV Engines provides a 4-stroke alternative to a 2-stroke engine and may be applicable to lawnmowers and scooters.
