Manufacturing for the future
Article Abstract:
The importance of encouraging future generations in the engineering industry is not being left to chance by entrepreneur and industrialist Professor Kumar Bhattacharyya. He has established a 13 million pounds sterling scheme to install computer-aided design (CAD) technology into every secondary school in the UK in order to fire the imaginations of the young. Bhattacharyya strongly believes in Englands ability to remain at the top of the technological and engineering development structure, with education and investments the key to success.

Article Abstract:
The UK continues to invest less on research than its foreign competitors as a percentage of sales, according to Norman Price, an industrialist on secondment to the Dept of Trade and Industry's Innovation Unit. He emphasizes that innovation is the complete process of commercializing an idea, not just the technical element. He feels that it is important to make companies aware that investing in research and development will bring growth and profits in the long term.
