Profiting from quality in the service arena: using cost-of-quality applications in nonmanufacturing organizations
Article Abstract:
Cost of quality is a valuable tool that can play a role in maintaining the service industry's ISO 9000 registration momentum and ensuring that investments in quality initiatives lead to added value. A cost-of-quality system can also give managers the information required to assess cost management initiatives. Service managers must identify what portion of costs is negatively affected by poor quality. They must also be able to develop solutions for improvement and cost savings.

A road map for quality beyond control
Article Abstract:
Established quality tools remain useful, but quality practitioners should be willing to try new quality approaches and to make quality technology useful by making it available to all. It is vital to ensure that time is set aside for creative activity, and managers must also encourage innovation, even if it does not succeed. There must be strong emphasis on a constant effort to improve knowledge of quality and the ways of achieving it.
