Retirement plan: start a business
Article Abstract:
There are several reasons why consulting engineers are particularly suited to establishing business when they retire. These reasons range from greater longevity; tax and retirement plan advantages that consulting business entail; advanced telecom systems; the high education level of engineers; and their financial security and savvy. However, the most important reason why engineers would want to establish their own business after they retire is the lack of a challenge. A business can provide engineers with a variety of tasks and an enhanced world perspective.

The effect of recent legislations aimed at addressing indoor air quality in public places will be a boon for consulting engineers in the field of ventilation. Companies and other business sectors hurting from the effect of the banning of smoking, which includes, hotels, bars, restaurants, bowling alleys and cigarette makers, are currently touting the importance of good ventilation in building design. The effort is aimed at accomodating smokers in these establishments.

Some design companies might be guilty of committing some of the 10 basic mistakes in the business.
