Computer-aided packing shop scheduling in a manufacturing plant
Article Abstract:
The scheduling problem of the packing shop of a processed food manufacturer is analyzed. The problem involves the development of a weekly schedule which will specify the end product and auxiliary equipment to be used by each packing line per shift. A computer-based schedule is developed in the PROGRESS RDBMS environment which has successfully improved the scheduling activities of the company.

A production ordering system for two-item, two-stage, capacity-constraint production and inventory model
Article Abstract:
The increasingly competitive global market requires companies to put up manufacturing systems that can reduce their lead time and inventory levels and increase their return on investments. One such promising system is the two-item, two-stage, capacity-constraint production and inventory system. Simulation shows that the system reduces fluctuations in total work load and inventory levels.
