Robery Noyce and the Tunnel Diode

When Leo Esaki, the Nobel prize winner in physics was busy making a tunnel diode in Japan in 1957, Robert N. Noyce had already had the invention in his lab notebook dating back to August 1956. But his boss at work, William B. Shockley was not interested.
