Rules for hard hat sites
Article Abstract:
Section 604 of the new part 6 of the Wiring Regulations covers construction site installations and applies to virtually all locations where there is temporary site wiring, with the exception of site offices and toilets. Section 604 special regulations place restrictions on supply voltages, distribution equipment, and permissible disconnection times and specify the use of BS 4343 (Commando) type socket outlets, plugs and cable couplers. In addition, suitable equipment must be provided for all on-site operatives.

How to avoid noise and shocks by selection
Article Abstract:
The IEE Guidance Note of Selection and Erection contains useful information that is supplemental to the 16th Editiion of the Wiring Regulations. The Guidance Note discusses the status of foreign standards. It advises on production of charts and the importance of keeping them on file for long periods. Its recommendations on labelling are, however, overly technical. The Guidance Note also covers the protection of sensitive equipment and the use of uninterruptible power supplies and shock protection systems.
