Safety in the skies
Article Abstract:
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the National Transport Safety Board and the aviation industry play a major role in controlling aviation disasters, and ensuring the safety of the public. The agencies investigate the causes of air-accidents and explore ways to minimize hazardous weather effects and reduce mechanic and flight crew errors. The FAA formulates projects, regulations and statutes for quality and safety standards of aircrafts. The government has recommended various strategies to prevent terrorists' sabotage attacks and reduce the risks associated with flying.

TQM: flimsy footing or firm foundation?
Article Abstract:
The research done by Quality Progress magazine found total quality management (TQM) has not met expectations. TQM can fail because it lacks focus, constancy of purpose, adequate leadership and pilot improvement teams. But case studies done at different universities prove that TQM can succeed. TQM has a firm foundation, and besides its failure, it has many advantages upon which a company can improve its business.
