Seeing quality with video objectivity
Article Abstract:
Many manufacturers are establishing off- and on-line video inspection systems to enhance product quality control. Such systems provide objective and real-time quality assessments of manufactured items. The main problem which such systems, however, is that human inspectors demand too much from them. Human inspectors seem to believe that such systems are able to make decisions regarding product quality like humans can. To avoid such a problem, human inspectors must be taught the realistic capabilities and limitations of video inspection systems.

Track product quality with thermal images
Article Abstract:
Thermal imaging technology has allowed manufacturers to enhance their ability to monitor product quality. Thermal imaging technologies such as focal-plane array systems and infrared sensors provide real-time digitized images that can be stored and analyzed more thoroughly later. Aside from enhancing product quality control, such systems also help in the maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment.
