TQM: leadership for the quality transformation
Article Abstract:
The trend in the US concerning the quality differences in local products and imported goods has resulted in the increasing number of Americans patronizing imports over local produce. To change this trend, Americans should first recognize that quality will greatly help in meeting the quality challenge. Secondly, there is a need for a systematic process to address the challenge. The Total Quality Management (TQM) process is the ideal candidate to fill this need. Any organization willing to take the TQM journey should consider taking the steps leading to awareness, involvement, commitment and ownership.

TQM: leadership for the quality transformation
Article Abstract:
Leaders of organizations should know that empowerment is a key aspect of total quality management (TQM). Empowerment entails giving every member an opportunity to participate in the decision-making process to promote better performance. Delegation of authority provides employees with definite responsibilities and objectives. Empowerment ensures long-term commitment to quality efforts. Unfortunately, formal education provides minimal focus on the concept and practice of empowerment.
