Taiwan to develop local software industry
Article Abstract:
Three technology centers that will concentrate on software engineering will be put up by the Industrial Development Bureau of Taiwan. The technology parks, aside from developing software products, will also handle their marketing. The move is designed to keep up with the rapid pace of development and competitiveness in the country's computer sector as well as the increasing threat posed by other Asian nations. Although Taiwan boasts of several science and technology parks, these have focused mainly on hardware.

Desperately seeking scientists at U.S. technology firms
Article Abstract:
The surge in the number of technology start-up firms has resulted in an increase in demand for skilled high-technology personnel. Some of the much-sought-after types of employees include engineers, medical practitioners, computer scientists, physicists and mathematicians. However, the shortage of highly-skilled workers has significantly affected the growth of technology firms who have begun to utilize the Internet and other innovative job fair schemes to attract workers to their organizations.

Directing technology in Asia's 'dragons.' (Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan)

The efforts of the governments of Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan in developing research and development infrastructure through science and technology parks are chronicled.These science and technology parks are key players in technology transfer from the West to these so-called 'dragon' economies of Asia. The three East Asian nations are channelling investments into developing high technology products for the world market.
