Talkin' about a revolution... again
Article Abstract:
The impending release of interoperable software from CAD manufacturers is expected to mend the fragmented US construction industry. Efforts by such groups as the International Alliance for Interoperability will result in construction industry software that will bring together the different parties of the industry. Interoperable software will permit constant communication between the architects, engineers, owners, contractors and facility managers of any construction project.

National CAD standard
Article Abstract:
The National Institute of Building Sciences, the American Institute of Architects, the Construction Specification Institute and the US Dept of Defense's Tri-Service Technology Center have proposed the US National Computer-Aided Design Standard (CAD).
