Testing manufacturing strategy formulation processes
Article Abstract:
A study developed a testing method for the process of conceptualizing, designing and deploying manufacturing strategies and applied it to one such manufacturing strategy formulation process. The analysis addressed two aspects, one of which was the initial testing of the process to assess feasibility, usability and utility. The second aspect involved more detailed testing to explore factors affecting process implementation. Testing was conducted via detailed case study using largely qualitative, perceptual data. The insights derived from this study aim to furnish a method of dealing with manufacturing systems in a real-world context.

Production planning using a hybrid simulation-analytical approach
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze a hybrid algorithm for the multi period multi product production planning problem. The algorithm supported mathematical programming and simulation frameworks of a manufacturing system. A production plan that is mathematically optimal and feasible was then developed. Results indicated that analytical models can be utilized with simulation frameworks to generate solutions for the problem.
