The bms files
Article Abstract:
A wide range of building management systems is available, one of which is the budget-priced HomeTech. The system is modular, allowing a full building management system to be built up. Modules include a computer interface, remote control and a transceiver and each module can be disconnected for resiting. Meanwhile, the European Installation Bus Association, a 78-member body that includes Siemens and ABB, has been created to produce a standard system, named Instabus, for building management.

Fire in the hole
Article Abstract:
The introduction of American fire standard UL910 would help reduce the number of UK accidents caused by electrical fires starting in small spaces which are hard to reach. The UL910 standard sets out guidelines which indicate what type of cable should be used for certain installations. UK guidelines do not specify such information for electrical wiring. The UL910 standard may become a necessity if British insurers decide to make it a legal requirement before insuring a new building.
