The lows of AC drives
Article Abstract:
The is predicted the market for low voltage AC drives will rise by 30% by the year 2002, with sales in Europe increasing to an estimated 367 million pounds sterling by 2002 from 274 million pounds sterling in 1998. Low power drives are those between 0.25kW-4kW. Demand for low-voltage AC drives has risen due to their lower price and better flexibility. New technologies has enabled the low-voltage drives to be produced more easily and in greater numbers which has helped to cut costs.

Coming in loud and clear
Article Abstract:
A digital loudspeaker has been developed featuring new actuation, materials and bearing technologies. It has an array of around 1,000 small transducers that combine with others to create digital quality audible sounds. The transducers consist of an outer helical bender, an inner cylindrical piston and a gas-filled bearing. The outer helical bender uses PZT materials which involved design challenges and the suspension of the PZT particles in a plasticine-like substance.
