A koinobiont parasitoid mediates competition and generates additive mortality in healthy host populations
Article Abstract:
The impact of the timing of introduction, and the strength of that introduction, of a parasitoid natural enemy Venturia canescens on the outcome of intraspecific competition between larvae of the Indian meal moth, Plodia interpunctella is investigated. In contrast to healthy hosts alone, reduced survival of healthy larvae is revealed with increasing periods of exposure to greater numbers of parasitised conspecifics.

Competition between mutualists: the role of differential flower abscission in yuccas
Article Abstract:
A comparison is presented between yucca and yucca moth species, one which oviposits on the surface of the carpel wall and one which oviposits through the carpel wall. The interrelationships between yucca flower abscission, coexistence of species, seasonal variation and moth behavior are examined.
