Redefining the community: A species-based approach
Article Abstract:
The effective community size can be defined on the basis of the web of indirect interactions experienced on average by each individual species are proposed. The analysis suggested that communities of effective size are rarely investigated in ecological experiments.

On dendrogram-based measures of functional diversity
Article Abstract:
The effect of individual species on functional diversity (FD) is evaluated by species removals and subsequent comparisons of tree length values. The effect of each functional trait is optimally judged by considering both dendrogram length and topological changes.
