Application of multiobjective programming to water quality management in a river basin
Article Abstract:
The Tzeng-Wen River basin in Taiwan was subject to multiobjective programming for the management of water quality problems. The objectives included economic and environmental components such as the water quality, the assimilative capacity of the river, and the cost of wastewater treatment. The practical application of the constraint method and the step method has validated these models in the management of water quality problems. This methodology is especially relevant for environmental agencies charged with regulating pollution control methods of contaminated rivers.

Solid waste management system analysis by multiobjective mixed integer programming model
Article Abstract:
Multiobjective mixed integer programming techniques are applicable in solid waste management system analysis for resolving conflicting economic and environmental goals of urban waste management strategies. Evaluations of socioeconomic and environmental considerations are essential for solving problems concerning waste recycling, facilities siting, and systems operation. Environmental factors incorporated into decision-making objectives include economic impacts, air quality and noise impacts, and traffic flow increments. Kaohsiung, Taiwan provides a city case study.

The economic-energy-environmental policy problem: An application of the interactive multiobjective decision method for Chungbuk Province
Article Abstract:
An interactive approach to the regional policy problem, economic-environmental-energy policy analysis is represented and applied to the case of policy decision for Chungbuk Province, Korea. The area has seen a steady rise in population and industry, and together with the two large reservoirs, Daechong and Chungju, this places stresses on the policy of environmental preservation. Current distributions of output throughout the 12 industrial sectors in the province were found to be different from the balanced allocation pattern from the compromise solution.
