Coastal management of Failaka Island, Kuwait
Article Abstract:
The Coastal zonal management to reconstruct the Failaka island, destroyed during the 1990 Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, has proposed a costal management plan for the future development of the island. The plan identifies four coastal zones based on the overall coastal geomorphology and wave and tidal conditions. The major areas of coastal development are also identified, such as the rate of coastal erosion and costal defence structures. Accordingly, a coastal management map which divides the shoreline into sixteen major sections has been developed.

Quantitative assessment of the intertidal environmental of Kuwait II: Controlling factors
Article Abstract:
Environmental data from the Kuwaiti intertidal zone was examined to determine statistical links between sediment, biological, spatial, chemical and temporal variables. Sediment type was found to be significant in influencing the distribution and composition of intertidal benthic fauna. Psysico-chemical parameters correlated positively with the mud content of sediment, but were not significant in the overall composition of intertidal fauna.

Quantitative assessment of the intertidal environment of Kuwait I: Integrated environmental classification
Article Abstract:
The physical, chemical and biological characteristics of the intertidal zone in Kuwait were examined to form an integrated basis for assessing and protecting such an ecosystem. Five distinct sub-environments were determined, described in terms of taxa, mena density fo organisms, tidal levels, dominant organisms and sediment type. Sediment type was an important factor in the overall make up of the benthic community.
