The increasing use of telecommuting is expected to benefit both the environment and corporate profitability. Thus, federal and state governments should create programs that would give incentives to businesses that would adopt employee telecommuting.

The Anacostia River has a serious pollutant problem which the Anacostia Watershed Society is trying to resolve. It has engaged in clean-up programs and services to educate residents about the importance of keeping the river free of solid wastes.
