Compensation: the consolation prize
Article Abstract:
The increase in prices, as a result of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), is beneficial to the non-subsidized farmer, but will increase economic problems in the developing countries. The loss faced by the Third World Countries should be recompensed as per the GATT rules, and steps have been proposed to achieve this. The IMF has been suggested as the means to ensure compensation of the developing countries. The effectiveness of these proposals have been doubted, and developing countries will have to persistently try to activate the compensation process.

It's delicious, nutritious, low-tech and practical. Here's how to make the marvellous mango bar
Article Abstract:
Tropical fruits can be transformed into healthy snackbars through an economical and uncomplicated process. The snack bars do not spoil easily and can be stored for a considerable length of time. Given the rate of wasted fresh food in the Third World countries, generating fruit bars out of excess produce has both nutritional and economical merits. The recommended agro-processing method is based on practical technology at minimum cost tailored to each developing country.

Necessity neglected
Article Abstract:
The General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) decreases the storage of food, which will affect the food aid given to the developing countries and increase food prices. The Uruguay Round of Talks restrains GATT from controlling steps taken to improve food production. The members of the talks were expected to maintain the level of food aid given, and food aid was exempted from limitations on subsidized food exporters.
