Consequences of differing competitive abilities between juvenile and adult plants
Article Abstract:
A simple model of two components of fitness, morality and flowering rates, for two grassland species with very different patterns of competitive ability and life-stage is studied. It is predicted that communities with high intensity of competition should have a high frequency of species with high seeding competitive ability, while communities with lower intensity of competition should have species with a wide rage of relative seeding and adult competitive ability.

Juvenile growth and survival under dietary restriction: Are males and females equal?
Article Abstract:
The effects of dietary restriction early in life on growth and survival of male and female juveniles in the common lizard was evaluated and the literature on sex-specific sensitivity to the environment in vertebrates that was surveyed is discussed. Results show that the effects of dietary restriction were not sex-specific as expected from the similar energetic requirements of male and female juveniles.

An experimental analysis of self-thinning in juvenile steelhead trout
Article Abstract:
The possibility of decline in density of mobile animal populations composed of individuals with indeterminate growth due to self-thinning is investigated. The comparison of the functional relationship between body size and density helps in distinguishing between potential self-thinning slopes based on the allometry of metabolic or space requirements.
