Decoupling of pelagic and littoral food webs in oligotrophic Canadian shield lakes
Article Abstract:
The importance of benthic sources of carbon for both benthic-pelagic and piscivorous fish in oligotrophic lakes where the trophic cascades are not likely to happen in pelagic zone of Canadian shield lakes when specialized planktivores are absent. The piscivorous fish as integrators of pelagic and littoral food webs, need to integrate the role of functional fish diversity to explain the food-web dynamics in oligotrophic systems.

Current food web models cannot explain the overall topological structure of observed food webs
Article Abstract:
A new measure of food web topology, structure stability is proposed to examine whether the existing food web models correctly predict structural stability. Structural stability provides an opportunity to test whether a model gets both the basics and the details right and it also tests the performance of existing food web models in a new way, by measuring aspects of food web topology not considered previously.

Topological keystone species: Measures of positional importance in food webs
Article Abstract:
Several topological network indices presenting a number of ways of qualifying the positional importance of trophic groups within the Chesapeake Bay trophic flow network are calculated. Results suggest that particular ecosystem topologies might lead to situations where sophisticated network metrics can help in quantifying positional importance.
