Latitudinal gradients in the phenetic diversity of New World bat communities
Article Abstract:
Latitudinal gradients in the phenetic diversity of New World bats provide perspectives on patterns of biodiversity that compliment taxonomic or functional characteristics. Gradients in phenetic diversity were significantly different than would be expected as a consequence of latitudinal gradients in species richness and the factors that determine the composition of regional faunas have a great impact on the phenetic diversity of communities and ultimately the latitudinal gradient in biodiversity.

The role of stochastic processes in producing nested patterns of species distributions
Article Abstract:
The effects of species-abundance distributions, island-size distributions, and total abundances on the degree of nestedness and its significance are examined. It is believed that stochastic processes, such as the random placement of individuals, predispose systems to evince patterns of nestedness at the species level, which might account, in part, for the ubiquity of nestedness in nature is shown.

Multivariate analysis of scale-dependent associations between bats and landscape structure
Article Abstract:
An examination of the relationship of population and community level characteristics of phyllostomid bats with habitat features that were measured at multiple spatial scales in Atlantic rain forest of eastern Paraguay is discussed. Both species-specific differences in response to land-scape structure and scale dependence in those responses are detected.
