Density-dependant dispersal in the Glanville fritillary, Melitaea cinxia
Article Abstract:
An investigation is done on the effect of conspecific density on both the tendency to cross a patch boundary and within-patch mobility in Melitaea cinxia, by experimentally manipulating density in large outdoor cages divided into two habitat patches, separated by a barrier of unsuitable habitat. For species with fluctuating population dynamics, such as Melitaea cinxia, dispersal activity both at low and at high local density would be important for population phenomena such as fluctuations in distributional range over good and bad years.

Defection by plants in the yucca-yucca moth association: a test of the cheater plant hypothesis for Yucca treculeana
Article Abstract:
In the obligate mutualism between yuccas and yucca moths, where pollination service and seeds for pollinator larvae are traded, it is suggested that some individuals in a population of Y. baccata may defect by preventing pollinator egg or larvae from development. This hypotheses is tested in Y. treculeans, another species or larvae from development.
