Early effects of rodent granivory on experimental forb communities
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that selective seed predation by Microtus pennsylvanicus, or meadow voles, can significantly enhance prairie restoration efforts. The density of the aggressive composite range-plant Silphium integrifolium was reduced by 59% due to vole seed predation during the winter, which encouraged the growth of small-seeded composites that would otherwise be dominated.

Clonal integration and the expansion of Phragmites australis
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that the reed Phragmites australis uses clonal integration to expand from high marsh to lower, less favorable marshes, as opposed to using rhizome fragments or seeds. This finding has implications for management strategies of invasive plants.
