Early-successional plants regulate grassland productivity and species composition: A removal experiment
Article Abstract:
The influence of annuals on grasslands functioning like productivity, water balance, soil and plant nitrogen (N) and composition was studied by removing two groups of early successional species from a heavily grazed grassland in central Texas, USA .The observations conclude that ecosystem functions are related to species characteristics and not diversity and that early season annuals help by regulating the composition of vegetation instead of directly affecting process rate.

Variation in trophic shift for stable isotope ratios of carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur
Article Abstract:
The assumption regarding trophic shifts for carbon, nitrogen and sulfur is tested. The effect of errors in estimates of trophic shift on estimates of the proportionate contribution of sources to consumers or trophic position of consumers is demonstrated.

Testing the defence trade-off hypothesis: how contents of nutrients and secondary compounds affect fruit removal
Article Abstract:
The nutrient content hypothesis for the explanation of observed patterns of fruit compounds and removal is tested. The nutritional differences in ripe and unripe fruits are examined.
