Economically efficient watershed management with environmental impact and income distribution goals
Article Abstract:
A methodology for incorporating environmental impacts and income distribution goals in economic analysis of watershed management policies in Illinois was described. Results indicated that farm costs increased with the restriction of agricultural pollution and soil erosion. The income distribution constraint reduces economic efficiency, but the efficiency loss due to implementing this constraint is less than 10% of the costs resulting from environmental regulations.

Green taxes, waste management and political economy
Article Abstract:
Various developments regarding waste management policy and the influence of policy instruments such as recycling credits and the landfill tax are examined. It has been observed that economic instruments can play a major role in the said policy area. However, the efficiency gains provided by the said instruments may be reduced if applied in political economy settings. One good example is the environmental tax reform instrument.
