Elevated CO2 levels and herbivore damage alter host plant preferences
Article Abstract:
CO2 is a key resource for plants and CO2 enrichment in general cause increased growth and photosynthetic rate, as well as altered chemical composition of foliage, including both primary and secondary metabolites. Elevated CO2 levels can cause insect herbivores to alter host plant preferences and these shifts result in partial escape from negative consequences of feeding on high CO2 foliage, thus CO2 enrichment will have an impact on plant biodiversity.

Intraclonal variation in defense substances and palatability: a study on Carex and lemmings
Article Abstract:
Intraclonal ramet variation in level of plant defense and nutrient compounds and intraclonal ramet preferences is investigated by lemmings (Lemmus trimucronatus) in field samples of a rhizomatous sedge (Carex stans). The results indicated that defense allocation between ramet development stages of the clonal sedge Carex conformed to predictions of the optimal defense theory.

Comparing the genetic population structure of two species of arctic lemmings: more local differentiation in Lemmus trimucronatus than in Dicrostonyx groenlandicus
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that dispersal-rate variances and effective population size differences may explain observed genetic differences between subpopulations of collared lemmings (Dicrostonyx groenlandicus) and brown lemmings (Lemmus trimucronatus). Differentiation is slightly higher in brown lemming subpopulations than collared lemming subpopulations.
