Growth rate constrain morphological divergence when driven by competition
Article Abstract:
An experiment and a field study are combined to assess how growth rate variation and competition affect morphological differentiation in Eurasian perch. The results have indicated that morphological divergence might be constrained during periods of intense intraspecific competition due to low growth rates and also that no surplus energy is available for morphological modulation as all energy at low growth rates is used for metabolic maintenance.

Effects of macrograzers and light on periphyton stochiometery
Article Abstract:
Hillebrand and coworkers test how light as well as grazing and nutrient regeneration by consumers affects growth and biomass of benthic primary producers. These experiments revealed that the indirect effects of grazers on periphyton were bound by stoichiometric constraints of nutrient incorporation and excretion.
