Impacts of eutrophication on diatom life forms and species richness in coastal waters of the Baltic Sea
Article Abstract:
A study to examine the impacts of eutrophication on the diatom life forms and the species richness in the coastal waters of the Baltic Sea is conducted. The analysis states that eutrophication and turbidity has led to an extremely high increase in the growth of the planktonic diatoms, though it has also shown a reduction because of the loss of benthic habitats in the past.

The impact of benthic microfauna for nutrient fluxes from Baltic Sea sediments
Article Abstract:
A study to analyze and examine the ecological impact of the benthic microfauna on the nutrient fluxes and dynamics was conducted. The results show that the sediment biological processes and the reduced microfauna lead to an increase in the internal loading during eutrophication.

Quantifying background nutrient concentrations in coastal waters: a case study from an urban embayment of the Baltic Sea
Article Abstract:
Sediment record of biotic indicators are used to reconstruct nutrient concentrations in coastal ecosystem. A model is used to track the trends in the nutrient record of the sediment core data from the Laajalahti Bay along the Baltic sea coast of Finland.
