Innate immunity, environmental drivers, and disease ecology of marine and freshwater invertebrates
Article Abstract:
The immunological mechanisms for selected phyla are reviewed and it is found that there are critical response pathways common to all invertebrates, which include the prophenoloxidase pathway, wandering phagocytic cells, cytotoxic effector responses and antimicrobial compounds. It is showed that several defense and signaling mechanisms are important in the innate immune responses to changing environment and pathogens.

Evolutionary ecology of plant adaptation to serpentine soils
Article Abstract:
The evolutionary ecology of plant adaptation to serpentine soils is reviewed. Investigations of plant races and species adapted to contrasting soil types have shown disparate flowering times, divergent floral morphologies, and pollen incompatibility to contribute to reproductive isolation.
