Long-term trends in emissions and transboundary transport of acidifying air pollution in Europe
Article Abstract:
A study aims to discuss long-term trends and the current levels of emissions, depositions and exceedances of the critical load of the acidifying compounds in Europe. The findings are linked to future European emissions, acidification and potential management implications. The total area affected by exceedances of acidifying sulphur and nitrogen was around 20% in the mid 1980s, but fell to around 10% in 1995. The area affected by exceedances of eutrophying nitrogen has remained at around 30% during the entire period. The second sulphur protocol is expected to result in continued reductions in sulphur emissions, but increased costs of emission abatement may be a barrier.

Developing an emissions inventory from farm data
Article Abstract:
Emissions inventory development is often included in techniques and strategies to determine environmental impact, such as life-cycle assessment. The emissions inventory aspect of a software system for agricultural eco-management is described. This uses readily available, typical farm data, along with emission factors and new heuristical models to provide estimates of environmental releases that may be expected.

Environmental efficiency in carbon dioxide emissions in the OECD: A non-parametric approach
Article Abstract:
An environmental efficiency index was developed of OECD countries using non-parametric methods. The disposability for CO2 emissions were severely restricted due to environmental regulation.
