Maximum body size among insular Komodo dragon populations covaries with large prey density
Article Abstract:
The variation in maximum body size of Komodo dragons among the four extant island populations in Komodo National Park are documented and an indirect measure of deer density, the major prey item for large dragons, to differences in maximum body size among islands are measured. Therefore it cannot be deduced if insular body size variation has arisen through genotypic or phenotypic mechanisms.

Floater survival affects population persistence. The role of prey availability and environment stochasticity
Article Abstract:
Two individual-based models using a large and detailed data set on a population of a longlived and territorial predator, the Spanish imperial eagle are developed. The simulations demonstrated the link between the dynamics in settlement and breeding areas, factors affecting floater survival also influence whole population dynamics.

Cyclic voles, prey switching in red fox, and roe deer dynamics - a test of the alternative prey hypothesis
Article Abstract:
The alternative prey hypothesis for a medium sized predator (red fox, Vulpes vulpes), a small cyclically fluctuating main prey (microtine voles) and a larger alternative prey (roe deer fawns, Capreolus capreolus) is tested. The medium-sized predators switch to alternative prey species on the decline of their main prey.
