Model selection in phylogenetics
Article Abstract:
A review of issues that render model-based approaches necessary, nucleotide-based models that attempt to capture relevant features of evolutionary processes and methods that are applied to model selection in phylogenetics are presented. The methods that are simulation studies with extremely complex models of sequence evolution to generate data are like to be very fruitful in evaluating alternative model-selection and model-averaging strategies.

The evolution of polyandry: Sperm competition, sperm selection, and offspring viability
Article Abstract:
The effect of sperm competition, sperm selection and offspring viability on the evolution of polyandry is studied. Polyandry can have a weak but significant general effect on embryo viability, but appropriate data that test for intrinsic sire effects on embryo viability are generally unavailable.

The evolutionary ecology of gynogenesis
Article Abstract:
A study of the evolutionary ecology of gynogenesis is presented. Sperm dependency is the defining feature of gynogenetic metazoans and organisms that apparently combine disadvantages of both sexuality and asexuality are a challenge to theory.
