Ontogenetic succession in Amazonian ant trees
Article Abstract:
An intriguing ecological pattern is described for the coexistence of ant guild using exclusively Tachigali plants as nestling site. The emergence of spatial pattern due to interspecific ant colony replacements along the ontogeny of the tree is seen as an ontogenetic succession.

Maternal age is a predominant determinant of progeny sex ratio variation in ungulates: a reply to Hewison et al
Article Abstract:
Research with Asiatic wild asses suggests maternal age appears to be the most significant factor in determining progeny sex ratio for ungulates. Other researchers challenging this finding need to note that in 31 cases testing age effect, 17 produced significant results.

Laws of nature and laws of ecology
Article Abstract:
Ecology may be said to operate according to principles as well-established as those governing physics. Such so-called laws need not be without exception, nor invariably make precise predictions, although they usually extend beyond simple regularity.
