Performance of a small aquatic plant wastewater treatment system under Caribbean conditions
Article Abstract:
A study of an aquatic wastewater treatment system under Jamaican conditions reveal that systems using aquatic plants can be used successfully for polishing secondary treated domestic sewage. This would lead to reduction in costs and pollution of the water ways. The feasibility of reusing the effluent and plant tissue is explored. A high quantity of phosphorus can be removed if N:P level is adjusted by adding nutrients to maintain a ratio o 3:1.
