Phenology of neotropical pepper plants (Piperaceae) and their association with their main dispersers, two short-tailed fruit bats, Carollia perspicillata and C. castanea (Phyllostomidae)
Article Abstract:
The leafing, flowering and fruiting phenology of Piper, in a neotropical region, are studied to relate the differences in phenological strategies relating to biotic and abiotic factors. The differences in flowering phenology of forest and gap Piper species are caused by abiotic factors and the differences in fruiting patterns are mostly influenced by biotic factors.

Non-lethal effects of predators on prey growth rates depend on prey density and nutrient additions
Article Abstract:
A study determines whether the effects of crayfish on snail growth rates depended on the environmental context and whether the predation risk could be responsible for the effects of variation in nutrient loading on snail growth. Results show that snail growth rates could be affected by predation risk, nutrient enrichment and snail density.
