Quantification of the effects of spatially varying environmental contaminants into a cost model for soil remediation
Article Abstract:
Spatial variation of soil contaminants can be difficult to handle. The effects of spatial variability of environmental contaminants on cost calculations were estimated, with attention focused on a contaminated site in the Rotterdam harbour area. The sequential Gaussian simulation method was found to be the most accurate method for estimating the contamination pattern, and it is concluded that simulations are useful inputs to the cost model to estimate variations in remediation costs.

Renewable resource use: transition from capture to allocation and optimal stock recovery
Article Abstract:
A model of optimal harvest path for resource stock recovery and efficiency is presented. The model takes into account the transition to an efficient allocation method of environmental management and in doing so points out the shortcomings of contemporary environmental policy. The transition towards an optimal harvest path method of allocation is the single most neglected aspect of any environmental policy, and is addressed.
