Quantifying temporal variability in population abundances
Article Abstract:
Simple metric population variability (PV), which presents variability as the average percent difference between all combinations of observed abundances, is studied. The analysis reveals that the employed study of PV is independent of the deviation from mean abundance for heavy tailed distributions and hence can be easily generalized to a variety of contexts and disciplines.

Combined impact of Allee effects and parasitism
Article Abstract:
A mathematical model is built to compare the dynamics of populations with or without Allee effects when infected by microparasites. It is shown that the influence of an Allee effect takes the form of a tradeoff and the presence of an Alee effect in host population might protect them, by reducing the rage of population sizes that allow parasite spread.

Allee effect in an invasive alien plant, pale swallow-wort Vincetoxicum rossicum (Asclepiadaceae)
Article Abstract:
The study addresses the Allee effect in an invasive alien vine, pale swallow-wort Vincetoxicum rossicum, Barb, known as dog-strangling vine. The initial environmental conditions and age of dense patches may differ from that of smaller patches and isolated individuals, it is necessary to experimentally alter density to effectively study Allee effects.
