Article Abstract:
The use of marketable permit system to control international pollution has many advantages due to its capacity to control the very roots of the economic dimension for excessive pollution. The marketable permit system has the economic concept of optimal pollution in comparison to other type of pollution control instruments. The initial distribution of pollution permits are not the same as the final distribution. Such permits can contribute in the resolution of internationally based problems. The problems were not underestimated in the original paper but were stated to be outside the paper's scope.

A proposed methodology for measuring incremental environmental benefits from using constructed wetlands to control agricultural non-point-source pollution
Article Abstract:
A binary response estimation strategy based on contingent valuation data is suggested for computing the incremental environmental advantages of employing constructed wetlands to control agricultural waste-water runoff. The model employs two binary responses per individual while avoiding the non-independence problems inherent in follow-up valuation questions. Findings indicated that the technique offers a potentially effective method for measuring the non-market advantages of constructed wetlands.

An optimization study of total emission controls for particulate pollutants
Article Abstract:
A study of the benefits of ideal arrangement of pollution control equipment among separate workshops in a steel-manufacturing firm reveals that for a specified total emission standard, the pollution risk for the workshop decreases with increasing flexibility of per unit expenditure of control equipment. Annual maintenance cost of any plant can be reduced by enhancing total emission standards.
