Resprouting vs seeding - a Mediterranean perspective
Article Abstract:
Research on fire-prone Mediterranean regions refutes the plant dynamics model that predicts the importance of seeding over resprouting. The model presented by the author incorporates a range of life traits, such as serotiny, seed dormancy, shade tolerance, age to maturity and plant longevity, to explain findings in the regions examined.

More to resprouting than fire
Article Abstract:
A model is presented depicting a non-linear tradeoff between seeding and resprouting biomass allocation. The model accounts for the limited role played by fire in disturbance frequency, the idiosyncrasies of fire as a disturbance regime, and the importance of productivity differences.

Recruitment in a Mediterranean annual plant community: seed bank, emergence, litter, and intra- and inter-specific interactions
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that germination and emergence are more important in plant succession than seedling survival. Seed mass was inversely related to litter effects. Data were obtained from observations of a four-year-old annual plant community in the Mediterranean region.
