The effects of farm size and organic farming on diversity of birds, pollinators and plants in a Swedish landscape
Article Abstract:
The study on land organic farms compares diversity and abundance of birds, butterflies, bumblebees and herbaceous plants between six small farms and six large farms in Rosalgen, in southeastern Sweden. The largest differences were found noted between small and large organic farms where more bird species were found on small organic than on large organic farms, although they never used any pesticides, hence the organic agriculture's effect on biodiversity should include factors affected by farm size.

Impact of overexploitation of shellfish: northeastern coast of India
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that excessive harvesting of shellfish, particularly tiger prawn, along India's Orissa and West Bengal coastlines has resulted in a significant loss of biodiversity. Implications of this loss for other species in the region are discussed, and a public awareness program for sustainable use is recommended.

Shellfish and public health: Swedish perspective
Article Abstract:
Phytoplankton, bacteria, and viruses from the water are concentrated in the mussel, due to bivalves that are fed by filtering large volumes of water. The hazards related to the consumption of shellfish are bacteria and algae as they are dependent on the composition of toxic algae and human microbial pathogens.
