The role of spatial scale and area in determining richness-altitude gradients in Swedish lake phytoplankton communities
Article Abstract:
The data specifying the richness of the Swedish lake phytoplankton was used to analyze the effects of spatial scale and area on the richness-elevation relationship. The results show that the local phytoplankton richness decreases with an increase in the elevation and hence leads to various patterns of alphas and gamma diversity along the elevation gradients.

Spatial synchrony of the two-year cycle budworm outbreaks in central British Columbia, Canada
Article Abstract:
The development of tree-ring chronologies of host tree species for different areas in the Prince George region and the identification of the spatial patterns of past outbreaks are described. Canopy structure, composition of tree species and host plant quality is important role-players in preconditioning outbreaks.
