The Committee on Medical Aspects of Food Policy (COMA) recommends the consumption of 300 gms of fish per person every week, of which 150 gm should be oily fish. In the UK, actual weekly consumption of fish totals 150 gm. The nutritional properties of fish include vitamins A, B, D, and E, protein and iodine, and both white and oily fish are recommended to protect against coronary heart disease.
