Article Abstract:
The high prices charged by the wine producers of Bordeaux, France, has resulted in poor sales of the 1997 vintage. The sweet wine produced in Sauternes is the exception. A list is presented of the 13 top scoring Bordeaux and the 9 top scoring Sauternes & Barsac from 1997.

The Bordeaux wines produced in 1999 are generally overpriced and uninspiring with the exception being the first growths produced by Latour, Margaux, Mouton-Rothschild, Lafite Rothschild and Haut-Brion. A raging of the 1999 Bordeaux wines is included.

The 1989 Bordeaux vintage is outstanding. Two hundred wines of the Canon Fronsac, Cotes de Francs, Fronsac, Graves, Pessac-Leognan, Haut-Medoc, Listrac, Margaux, Medoc, Moulis, Pauillac, Pomerol, St. Emilion, and other districts are evaluated.
